Not a question of loyalty.
It's about players understanding West Ham and the fans having an affinity with them.
What do a player need to understand about West Ham, except from winning and playing good football?

Would like to see a few more but most days we will have four or five english players involved (from Noble, Tomkins, Cresswell, Jenks, Oxford, Carroll). That's pretty good these days.
Much more interested in having a great season of entertaining football though. It's been too long.

There are well enough English player in the squad/team for West Ham's purposes.
Whether or not there are enough English players in the squad for call-up to national games is up to the people who put the league together to decide. Don't they have responsibility for both?

We are the club. It's identity. We are the tribe. The players are just our representatives on the pitch. It would be nice if more of us were on the pitch but it doesn't define what the club means to us. Everyone in the ground, each of us on here give the club it's identity*.

If you still want to feel the connection between players and supporters who are largely from the same background/social class then go watch Non-League football.
After years of decline It's the future...and is growing once again.
You are allowed to support 2 teams as long as 1 is non-league then it's allowed.
